“Watussi can now justifiably be regarded as the No. 1 Latin band in the land.”

Watussi – Australia

The unmistakeable distorted riffs and funked-up percussive rhythms of Watussi signify one of the most dynamic and eclectic groups to come out of the multicultural broth of Sydney’s Bondi Beach. This eight piece band, led by charismatic Colombian born Oscar Jimenez, has been described as “Afro Colombian rock and roots from the Antipodes”, and Rage Against The Machine with horns”.
Their debut album Tequila, Sangre y Fuego found its way into the hands of Brian Eno, who handpicked them to play at the Sydney Opera House. After selling out countless shows with blustering horns and party-fuelled rhythms, 2011 saw Watussi touring the country with Latin rock legend and musical idol Santana and recording with New Orleans blues pianist Jon Cleary, as well as releasing the new album “El Olvido”.
